Summary

In Act Your Age, Eve Brown the flightiest Brown sister crashes into the life of an uptight B&B owner and has him falling hard—literally。

Eve Brown is a certified hot mess。 No matter how hard she strives to do right, her life always goes horribly wrong—so she’s given up trying。 But when her personal brand of chaos ruins an expensive wedding (someone had to liberate those poor doves), her parents draw the line。 It's time for Eve to grow up and prove herself—even though she's not entirely sure how…

Jacob Wayne is in control。 Always。 The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry—and he expects nothing less than perfection。 So when a purple-haired tornado of a woman turns up out of the blue to interview for his open chef position, he tells her the brutal truth: not a chance in hell。 Then she hits him with her car—supposedly by accident。 Yeah, right。

Now his arm is broken, his B&B is understaffed, and the dangerously unpredictable Eve is fluttering around, trying to help。 Before long, she’s infiltrated his work, his kitchen—and his spare bedroom。 Jacob hates everything about it。 Or rather, he should。 Sunny, chaotic Eve is his natural-born nemesis, but the longer these two enemies spend in close quarters, the more their animosity turns into something else。 Like Eve, the heat between them is impossible to ignore—and it’s melting Jacob’s frosty exterior。

I really liked the first one in this series。 The second was okay。 Then this one was just tedious。 I just didn’t care about any of the characters。 It was really close to a DNF。

4。5 starsWhat a delight this book is! Fun, sugary-sweet, and extremely sexy。 This is a book about a young woman with a debilitating fear of failure that causes her to flit from occupation to occupation to keep from getting too attached to something she might screw up, and an autistic young man whose uptight exterior masks how fiercely and deeply he cares about his hospitality business and the people he loves。I really admire how natural and funny Hibbert managed to keep the prose here。 Eve could 4。5 starsWhat a delight this book is! This book has quickly become one of my favourites of all time。 The dynamic and relationship between Jacob and Eve was amazing and so entertaining to read。 And of course steamy。 I loved every single one of the characters in this novel but my favourite was 100% Jacob。 If I’m being honest I’m convinced he is perfect in every way。 Honestly, I cannot even explain how fuzzy it made me feel on the inside。 It was wholesome and adorable and omg I just love it。 10000 stars out of 5!

🎶 Act Your Age, Eve Brown 🎶 I can’t remember the last time a book made me laugh out loud so much。 I had to pause my reading so I could laugh。 Especially the pond scene! 😂 When I wasn’t laughing, I was smiling my face off or crying。 What a beautiful book。 I love Eve and Jacob! I loved Mont,Tessa, and Alex。 The twins were SO fun。 I want more of this story。 I want more of these characters together with Chloe, Red, Dani and Zaf! Ahhh I want it all。 I can’t stop smiling! 🥰

Michaela

I just love Talia Hibbert。 So fun to read! I love that the characters she creates are diverse and often under-represented; not your typical rom-com characters。

So I would have liked the book if it wasn't for all the volger swearing。It completely reuined the book for me。Why would a publisher or editor accept this book to be published?Every paragraph in each chapter a character is swearing。Who would want to read something like that。The writer has no class or respect for readers if she thinks this is entertaining and acceptable dialogue that readers would enjoy。Complete garbage!!! This book was so fun, hilarious, outrageously addictive, pure, and romantic。 I love this book to pieces! You need to read this book, but also read Get A Life, Chloe Brown and Take A Hint, Dani Brown as well。 I highly recommend the whole companion novels。 These books are absolutely one of my favorite romance novels ever。 I just can’t get enough of them!!

“Act Your Age, Eve Brown” is a novel about a flighty twenty-six year old who discovers happiness and maturity at a small town B&B。 I appreciated that the author provided a note prior to the first chapter as a trigger warning of the content inside the novel。 I also appreciated that with she has chosen to not have the current global pandemic be present in the novel and that this book is meant to provide a form of escape。Before chapter one of the novel, the author provides the reader with Eve’s Act “Act Your Age, Eve Brown” is a novel about a flighty twenty-six year old who discovers happiness and maturity at a small town B&B。 I appreciated that the author provided a note prior to the first chapter as a trigger warning of the content inside the novel。 I also appreciated that with she has chosen to not have the current global pandemic be present in the novel and that this book is meant to provide a form of escape。Before chapter one of the novel, the author provides the reader with Eve’s Act Your Age Playlist which serves as a way to help the reader better connect with Eve through her taste in music。 When the novel begins, Eve is writing in her trusted journal and nursing her wounds after a mishap involving doves at a wedding she planned for her childhood friend Cecelia。 After the dove debacle, Eve shuts down her wedding planning business, completely surprising her parents。 After Eve’s parents express disappointment at Eve and cut off her trust fund, Eve is left embarrassed and unsure of what to do next。 While trying to figure out her next move, she stops in a town call Skybriar and feels it must be fate when she sees a sign at the local B&B looking for a chef。 Although Eve does knows how to cook, she views this job as a temporary fix until she gets back into her parents’ good graces。Castell Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Skybriar is run by Jacob Wayne。 Jacob is very rule oriented and hyperfocused due to having autism。 Jacob has a specific idea of the type of person who should be hired as his chef and Eve is definitely not that person。 During the chef interviews, Jacob is being assisted by his best friend Montrose (aka Mont。) Mont acts as a buffer to Jacob’s harsh behavior towards perspective employees。 When Eve enters the B&B for the chef interview, Jacob has already decided he doesn't like her and judges her as unreliable, disorganized, and unprofessional。 Just as Eve is about to leave the interview, Mont tells her about the dire situation Jacob finds himself in。 Jacob is livid at Mont’s telling Eve about the situation and Jacob clearly states that Eve will not be hired for the job。After Eve leaves the Castell Cottage and goes to her car to figure out other job prospects, Mont and Jacob have a conversation about the future of the B&B which leads Jacob and Mont to go searching for Eve to offer her the chef job on a trial basis。 Unbeknownst to Eve, Jacob is right behind her car and she backs up into him, causing him to break his arm。 Since the B&B was being operated solely by Jacob, Mont directs Eve to take care of Castell Cottage while he takes Jacob to the hospital。 When Jacob returns from the hospital, Eve makes it her mission to do right by Jacob and the guests staying at the B&B。 While Eve and Jacob initially don’t get along, as the novel progresses, both start to let their defenses down, learn to trust, and in the end find love。I thoroughly enjoyed this novel because I liked that although Eve is a plus size woman, she is not written in a demeaning way。 I liked that Jacob’s autism was addressed in a direct manner and that it is written as something that just one part of who he is as a person。 I also liked that although the book is set in England, the storyline is versatile and could work in any setting。This book was an entertaining read and although there weren’t many sexual scenes, the sex scenes that were in the book were very steamy。 Overall, this was a good read and I was surprised that this book is actually the third in a series written by Talia Hibbert (other books are Get a Life, Chloe Brown and Take a Hint, Dani Brown。) Considering how much I enjoyed reading this novel, I definitely plan to read Hibbert’s two previous books soon。 。。。more

3。5-4 stars。 Loved this book。 I related to Eve in so many ways - especially with the struggles of finding a job/career and the continuing self doubt and insecurity of finding a “long-term successful” job。 There is a lot of pressure in your 20s to find a successful job/career and it’s very easy to fall into the loop of comparing yourself to others and seeing how far along others are in their careers compared to you。 It definitely can cause self-doubting/questioning of your own accomplishments。 I 3。5-4 stars。 Loved this book。 I related to Eve in so many ways - especially with the struggles of finding a job/career and the continuing self doubt and insecurity of finding a “long-term successful” job。 There is a lot of pressure in your 20s to find a successful job/career and it’s very easy to fall into the loop of comparing yourself to others and seeing how far along others are in their careers compared to you。 It definitely can cause self-doubting/questioning of your own accomplishments。 I really enjoyed how Eve self doubt was displayed in this book, felt like the author really hit the spot on that。 I adored Eve and Jacob’s relationship and their differences。 An elements that I appreciated was how abandonment of a child can play a crucial role on how that child grows up and view/treats people coming in their lives and their fear of people leaving。 I feel like this was executed beautifully for Jacob。 Some of my favorite quotes: “It sounds like your dream broke, and you’ve been picking up shattered pieces and blaming yourself when your hands bleed。” “More about people in general—about how her friends never liked her quite as much as she liked them。 How they dropped her as soon as someone better came along, or pushed her to the edge of the circle when space was tight, or generally treated her as optional rather than vital。” The fact that people were actually saying this in 2020/2021 for the COVID-19 vaccine cracks me up: “her last boyfriend had believed vaccines were a front for a government tracking system based around injectable microchips。” 。。。more

As expected another amazing Brown sisters book。 This one is of Eve (the least put together sister) who needs a job and Jacob -the owner of a B and B in need of a cook。 I did find the autistic angle of Jacobs quirks interesting- but it seemed like some of those qualities vanished when it was convenient because of Eve being around。 Autistic qualities don’t just disappear because of love。 This book did not feel quite a “true” as the others。

Eve is fun but scattered。 She needs to find herself after her parents disapproval for not sticking with various jobs。 Feeling hurt she ends up at a B&B where she meets Jacob, the very stern and buttoned up owner。It’s a slow burn romance and really funny at times and good to watch the affection grow between them。More importantly, seeing Eve grow in confidence in herself and her abilities is an emotional journey。Jacob, swoon。 Love seeing the grumpy ones fall。He has his own issues dealing with his Eve is fun but scattered。 She needs to find herself after her parents disapproval for not sticking with various jobs。 Feeling hurt she ends up at a B&B where she meets Jacob, the very stern and buttoned up owner。It’s a slow burn romance and really funny at times and good to watch the affection grow between them。More importantly, seeing Eve grow in confidence in herself and her abilities is an emotional journey。Jacob, swoon。 Love seeing the grumpy ones fall。He has his own issues dealing with his parents, which leads to trust issues。 Because of Eve, he’s also able to make changes and begin to trust her。A lovely ending to the series。 。。。more

4。5*I love the Brown sisters and it was such a delight to read about them again from Eve's perspective。 I love Tahlia Hibbert's ability to create such diverse characters and Eve didn't disappoint。 Reading about Eve's journey of self acceptance and her undeniability to be her true self was empowering。 I absolutely adored the family dynamic throughout this series (Gigi is incredible)。 This book is full of sweetness and steam and had me laughing out loud several times。 Such a joy to read! 。。。more

TALIA HIBBERT KNOWS HOW TO WRITE A BOOK BOYFRIEND GODDANGI do love it when someone falls in a lake and someone else has to pretend to rescue them begrudgingly but really they are head over heels。 That is my favourite。 super good neurodivergent characters, and their different viewpoints were an eye-opening view into the variety of experiences on the spectrum。 pls more of tessa and alex。 luv them。

Adorable and fun! But I had to take a star off because Eve’s romantic interest here doesn’t care for Kate Bush and I honestly feel like that should have been a deal-breaker 😂
